Mas Pallarès, a restored Catalan farmhouse, nestles against a tree-clad hill amidst the vineyards and cherry orchards of the beautiful Réynès Valley. The 500-year-old building is a rambling, cavernous stone farmhouse, with a large swimming pool, set in mature, informal gardens.
The property has seven self-catering apartments of individual character. They are all well equipped and retain many original features. Set in the delightful mature gardens are a summer kitchen, barbecues and the large swimming pool.
Mas Pallarès is five minutes away from the ancient market town of Céret, half an hour from Spain, the High Pyrénées and the Mediterranean, under half an hour from Collioure and the Côte Vermeille - making it a perfect base for exploring this wonderful area of France. Céret was once home to Picasso, and a collection of his work can now be seen in the town's "Musée d'Art Moderne".
There are seven self-catering apartments of various sizes:
La Cave (sleeps 4-6 + baby) 1 double, 1 twin, 2 single sofa-beds. Recently created from three wine caves, this is a spacious 2-bedroom apartment of great character. It has barrel ceilings, stone walls and even some exposed rock in the salon. There is a split-level kitchen/dining room, and the salon opens out onto a private outdoor dining area for six.
Le Grenier (sleeps 4-6 + baby) 1 double, 1 twin, 2 sofa-beds. This apartment is a converted loft with high, arched ceilings - ensuring cool temperatures inside during the summer. Le Grenier is on the first floor of the Mas and has two large bedrooms.
L'Etable (sleeps 2-4) 1 twin, 2 single sofa-beds. The second of the new apartments which has been created out of the old cattle stables. A mix of old and new gives a light, airy feel to this very attractive garden-level accommodation.
La Grange (sleeps 2-3 + baby) 1 double, 2 sofa-beds.
La Terrasse (sleeps 2 + baby) 1 double.
Acacia Studio (sleeps 2-4) 1 double, 1 sofa-bed.
La Glycine (sleeps 4-6 + baby) 1 twin, 1 large double, 2 sofa-beds.
Le Vallespir (sleeps 6-8 + baby) 1 twin, 1 large double, 2 sofa-beds.
Mas Pallarès is surrounded by the forests, vineyards and cherry orchards of the lush Réynès Valley. Bordered by a small trout river, the informal gardens of the farmhouse are a place to both rest and play, to wind down and recreate, to lose oneself or, indeed, to find oneself again...

Independent Comment
A substantial and imaginatively renovated Mas in a green and verdant rural setting, yet only 5 minutes from Ceret. The size and layout of the Mas lends itself well to an agreeable balance of private and social, with each apartment having its own outside space, separate from the garden and impressive large pool with lots of terrace areas - excellent for sociable relaxing in sun or shade in this peaceful country setting. The apartments are well presented and comfortably furnished with a tasteful combination of modern and country style. We don’t have the space here for individual comment as each has its own very different features – ranging from the novelty and style of La Cave, the light and airy Grenier and the smart first floor studios – but that is part of the attraction – the Mas can suit all tastes and all party sizes!
