Our traditional village house is situated in the heart of the fortified, medieval village of Laroque.
Accommodation:
On the top floor we have converted 2 bedrooms into a spectacular open plan, dual aspect, living area that opens out on to 2 large terraces, both with superb panoramic views. To the west, a stunning view of the old village, the 12 century fort, and the grandeur of Mt Canigou. To the east, the Mediterranean and the Alberes. In this space we have created a kitchen equipped with dishwasher, Neff hob, Bosch Oven and fridge freezer, and a dining area that seats 6. For winter lets there is wood burning stove on the top floor and radiators in each of the bedrooms and bathrooms.
There are and 3 double bedrooms, 1 with Kingsize bed, one with standard double, and one with 2 single beds.
Each bedroom has it’s own bathroom 2 are en-suite (1 of the en-suites is a wet room). The other bedroom has sole use of a bathroom with walk-in shower.
We have no TV, but we provide wireless internet with VOIP telephones throughout the house.
Pets welcome.
The Village:
Within the village you can forget the car (ample parking) as we have 3 bars, 2 that provide good food and 2, non-bar, restaurants - the superb Les Palmiers and La Cueva. Equally Claude who turns up in the ‘Mairie Car Park’ every Tuesday and Friday with a pizza oven in the back of his van we recommend unreservedly. The other plus point is that we have typical village shops within strolling distance of the house so fresh, warm, croissants, an English newspaper (if you wish) and provisions for supper are all within a 2 minute walk from the house.
LOCAL AREA
You can walk out of the front door, turn left and climb up into the Alberes for magnificent walking/Mountain Biking country. Windsurfing, lying on beaches, and golf require a drive. There is ‘millionaires golf’ at sensible prices at Perelada in Spain which is a 40 minute drive away and we also have a 27-hole golf course close by at St Cyprien.
Within 15 minutes drive: Beaches at Argeles, le Racou, Collioure, The Spanish Border.
Within 1 Hour Drive: Costa Brava, the Pyrénees, Skiing in Andorra, Perpignan and Gerona Airports (Ryanair /FlyBe destinations).

Independent Comment
Situated in the old part of this picturesque village, the house offers some excellent features. The overall feeling of space and light is accentuated as you ascend to the first floor bedrooms with attractive views, culminating in the superb double aspect views, east and west, on the spacious second floor living area. This is undoubtedly the highlight, flanked by 2 generous sized terraces, east and west, with far-reaching views to the Alberes hills and to the Mediterranean sea. The layout and facilities (including 3 very smart bathrooms) works well for both smaller and larger parties, whilst the tasteful blend of older features and stylish modern comforts, including pine floors and furnishing and a very well equipped kitchen, is most appealing.
