OUR HOUSE is situated in a pedestrian street in the oldest part of the village of Nebian, just off the main square (where cars can be parked). The accommodation is on four floors, as follows:
Ground floor: hall with hanging cupboard; bathroom (WC, basin and bath with shower attachment). Automatic washing machine.
First floor: Living area and kitchen (approximately 28ft by 12 ft) with calor gas hob, electric oven and large ‘frig with freezer compartment. Dining table to seat 6; large open fireplace – useful for off-season occupation and barbecues. Sofa and chairs.
Second floor: WC with hand basin; two bedrooms. Back bedroom has two single beds, washbasin, wardrobe and chest of drawers. Front bedroom has one single bed and hanging cupboard with shelves.
Third floor: One bedroom with twin beds, shelving and two small chests of drawers; this room leads onto the roof terrace (approx. 12ft square), which is equipped with table, chairs and parasol. The terrace is private and has views across the rooftops to the hills.
The house is several hundred years old; it has great character and masses of exposed beams. However, because of its age, some of the tiled floors and stairs are uneven and could be dangerous for the elderly or infirm or for very young children.
EQUIPMENT: there are enough duvets (single) and pillows for 5 people (May to September). Sheets and towels are not usually provided although they may be hired if necessary. Electricity is used for water heating and cooking and is charged at £3.50 per person per week. An iron, ironing board, vacuum cleaner and small barbeque are in the house. The open fireplace can be used for cold weather heating and there is also a moveable calor gas heater and an electric convector heater. There are three fans for hot weather use.
No pets.
LOCAL AREA
Nebian is a village situated about half a kilometre off the road between Clermont l’Hérault and Pézenas; it is therefore quiet and has no through traffic. It is surrounded by hillside, vineyards and open country and there is good walking starting from the house. There is a small grocery store, a post office, a bar/cafe and a baker who bakes all his own bread and cakes and opens every day. Traders set up stalls in the village on most days selling meat, fish, vegetables and fruit. The nearest supermarket is about one and a half kilometres away in Clermont l’Hérault, which also has a good and picturesque weekly market, banks, restaurants, a theatre and cinema. Nebian is a friendly village and local people are very welcoming and helpful.
As well as being a good base for walking, Nebian is only 10 minutes drive from Lac Salagou, a beautifully situated large lake surrounded by hills with many small beaches; good for swimming and windsurfing.

Independent Comment
Traditional village houses offer many attractions on the theme of “very French” – each has its own unique charm and this is no exception. It is conveniently situated just off the Place with Post Office and bar/restaurant in the old part of this historic village. The good sized kitchen/dining/living area on the first floor is dominated by the huge and impressive open fireplace – ideal for the barbecue! Even the stairs (over 4 floors) have their traditional charm, especially up to the top floor light and airy double bedroom which leads to the inviting roof terrace. Good value village base for exploring the area and close to Lac du Salagou.
