Tucked away in the small but bustling village of Olette in the French Pyrenees, the Bizzie Lizzie Barn combines the rustic charm of lime washed walls and the warm tones of wood, with the leisured living of comfortable furniture, modern equipment and everywhere a sense of airiness and spaciousness.

The property is hidden from view behind high stone walls and faces south. Parking is nearby with easy access to the Barn by tarmac path.

Explore all the area has to offer, or simply relax and unwind in an oasis of calm - bask on the sun terrace, dine al fresco under the vines, or snuggle up by the fire with a good book and a glass of wine.

Accommodation:

The Bizzie Lizzie Barn is a recently renovated house and barn, offering comfortable accommodation, combining warmth and comfort with modern equipment and sense of space. The private courtyard and roof terrace with sturdy wooden balustrade are ideal for children to play in safety.

The kitchen is fully equipped with cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine, iron, food processor and pressure cooker; also ample crockery, glassware, cutlery and cooking utensils.

The dining room with its wood burning stove opens out onto the vine covered courtyard, with table, chairs, parasol, and well stocked herb garden; perfect for al fresco dining. Also downstairs is the bathroom with bath/shower, wash basin, and WC, linen basket etc.

There is a double bedroom downstairs, with storage and hanging space.

From the dining room a semi-spiral wooden staircase leads upstairs to the gallery. At the top of the stairs is a single bed with views down the Têt valley, catching the rising sun in the morning. Further along the gallery is a double sofa bed with further storage space.

Leading from the gallery there is the sun/TV lounge with sliding glass doors opening out onto the roof terrace; with its sun loungers and low tables ideal for peaceful sunbathing.

The sun lounge is equipped with colour TV, video player, CD and cassette player, and a fridge for cold drinks when sunbathing or for evening aperitifs on the terrace. There is a display stand with exhaustive tourist information in both English and French, and a variety of books and games are also available.

All comfortably furnished with linen and towels supplied. The English manageress and key holder lives a short distance up the hill, and is only too happy to answer your queries or help in any way she can.

A cot, high-chair, and Z-beds can be made available if required.

LOCAL AREA

Olette stands at more than 2,000 feet on the RN 116.  The village has a tabac and newsagent, bakery, butcher, small supermarket, hotel, tourist office and cafe, pharmacy and doctor's surgery and a Thursday market.  There is also a railway station for the little Yellow Train, the narrow-gauge mountain railway.

Set in spectacular scenery, the area is a walker's paradise. In the winter there is downhill and cross-country skiing and snow-shoeing.  The Mediterranean coast is an hour away, Andorra and Spain are within a two-hour drive.  There is also a wealth of sporting activities and sight-seeing – for further details please visit the owner’s website.

Independent Comment

Unusual property with appealing cottage, chalet and barn characteristics, tucked away in one of the streets above the village centre, but only 2 minutes walk from the shops, bar/restaurants. Lovely views down the valley and tree clad hills all around - not only from the large south-facing first floor terrace, but also from the whole of the chalet-style open-plan first floor; this is light and airy with wide panorama windows and comfortable sitting room leading to the terrace. Downstairs, the good sized kitchen is next to the pretty shaded courtyard terrace for outside dining, whilst the wood burning stove in the ground floor dining room (with sofa) and electric heaters throughout suggest a cosy winter base. Satellite TV on both floors. Ideal for 4.
