With the beach just across a car park, the Residence Les Patios de la Mer is very conveniently situated on the quieter side of St-Cyprien Sud. Our apartment is on the third floor with no lifts, so you must be prepared for a bit of exercise! Once up there however you will not want to leave the large terrace with a fantastic view of the Canigou to the left, the marina straight ahead and the sea to the right. Residence Les Patios de la Mer itself does not have a swimming pool but we provide the key to use the swimming pool of the Residence next door.
The flat can sleep six in total although it will be more comfortable with four (not using the settee in the lounge for sleeping). It comprises an open plan kitchenette/lounge with French doors to the terrace, bathroom with shower, toilet, the main bedroom and a mezzanine.
The lounge contains a settee that converts to a double bed as well as a dining table with chairs, dresser and television set. From the lounge, stairs go up to the mezzanine which contains two single beds, bedside table and a wardrobe.
The main bedroom contains a double bed and two bedside tables.
The kitchenette includes fridge, two burner electric stove and microwave oven with grill.
A garden table and chairs on the terrace will allow taking full advantage of the view.
The floors are tiled throughout except for the bedroom which has wood laminate and the mezzanine; the furnishings are contemporary and light.
Because of the steep stairs to the mezzanine we would not recommend this apartment to families with young toddlers who cannot comfortably and safely go up/down such stairs.
LOCAL AREA
The area is a fantastic holiday destination at any time of the year, combining, within only a few miles, the long sandy beaches along the Mediterranean, acres of vineyard and orchards with quaint little villages and the breathtaking beauty of the Pyrenees.
In St-Cyprien and Canet there are miles of clean wide golden sand beaches, all watersports are available in season and fishing boat trips are available from the harbour. Golf de St-Cyprien, with 27 holes, is one of the most reputed golf destinations in the country and the “Grand Stade” offers tennis, badminton, squash, table tennis, gym, swimming pool etc.
Other options include hire of bicycles and quad bikes etc., horse riding (in and around St-Cyprien), a local speciality, Aqualand - a water fun park, karting, wine tasting and visit of local wineries, funfair, market twice a week, in season a variety of travelling shows, circus, etc. There is a very lively nightlife around the harbour with numerous restaurants, clubs, shops and a casino.
Apart from visiting the many sites around the area, we would also note Argeles with its many attractions, the butterfly sanctuary in Elne, Sigean safari park, the ski resorts only an hour and a half drive away, and the Spanish border less than half an hour away.

Independent Comment
A bright and practical apartment in a smaller apartment building which adds to the appeal of this convenient holiday base – use of large pool with paddling pool, secure private parking, handy food/bread shop 5 minutes walk away and very close to the sandy beach. The apartment has a light and cheerful feel with a good sized balcony offering good views across St Cyprien and the Mediterranean. The living room/kitchen area and bedroom are compact but more than adequate for smaller parties and the high sloping roof in the living area adds a good feeling of space. The surprisingly large mezzanine area above with 2 single beds provides a very useful additional sleeping capacity, leaving the living area/balcony free for normal usage for 4 people.
