LOCAL AREA
Languedoc is one of the least expensive areas of France, has the hottest and dryest climate, and one visit is not enough to see a fraction of all the attractions in the area: the medieval fortified city of Carcassonne, the Cathar castles of Queribus and Peyrepertuse. Golf, tennis and cycle hire. Riding, walking fishing, swimming, and canoeing along the crystal clear waters of the rivers Orb, Cesse and Aude, or splashing under the waterfall beneath the ancient village of Roquebrun. Roman remains in Nimes, the famous Pont du Gard; stunning gorges, grottoes, canyons and the magnificent vineyards of the Minervois and Corbières, where the patrons of a hundred different caves eagerly await your appreciation of their wines.
The long sandy beaches of the Mediterranean are half an hours’ drive away. Narbonne Plage brimming with cafes, bars and ice-cream parlours. Gruissan, a beautifully landscaped resort full of flowers, palm trees and laurier rose bushes, with a chic new marina, old port, and an etang famous for its pink flamingoes.

Independent Comment
Although only 10 minutes from Narbonne and well placed for excursions to the many sights and activities in the area, the peaceful rural location and approach to this imposing Domaine is impressive, with views across the wide expanse of vineyards and foothills of the Montagne Noire. The size and scale of the accommodation in the converted stables lends itself well to families and particularly to families or groups holidaying together, as do the large recreation areas and pool. The first floor open plan living room/kitchen areas of the 4-bedroom houses, which open out onto large private terraces, are notable for their views and feeling of space, whilst the 5-bedroom house with ground floor living rooms and terrace provides plenty of space for larger numbers.
