Our home is in the friendly, tranquil village of Cazouls d’Hérault. It is a 250-year-old winegrower’s house built on four levels and is typical of this region.
The pièce de résistance is the roof terrace, where you could spend the whole holiday sitting in the sun - glass of local wine in hand - looking at the fantastic view.
Cazouls d’Hérault is ideally placed for exploring the Mediterranean coast, the Haut Languedoc, the Canal du Midi and the many fascinating towns and villages in this beautiful part of southern France.
Our house
5 Rue du Moulin is a typical Languedocien village house ideal for four, but will accommodate six. It is comfortably furnished and very well-equipped - and we have invested a good deal of time and energy (and money!) in making our home perfect for self-catering holidays. The house is heated by convector heaters and there is a television and a telephone. There is 1 double bedroom and 1 twin-bedded room.
Because of the design of the spiral staircases, the house is not suitable for toddlers or the infirm.
Well behaved pets are welcome.
Cazouls d’Hérault
Our village is very conveniently situated. It is close to the town of Pézenas, the Mediterranean coast and the new A75 autoroute. It is very peaceful as there is no through traffic. There are pleasant walks through the narrow streets, through the vineyards and down to the banks of the Hérault river.
Pézenas
The small town of Pézenas is delightful. In the sixteenth century, it was the centre of government for the l’Etats du Languedoc, and many of the town's fine buildings remain unchanged from this time. Pézenas has a good choice of restaurants and bars, a cinema, a small theatre, a weekly market, and a wide variety of shops and supermarkets. If you are lucky, you may even see the "Poulain" - a mythical beast - carried around the streets.
LOCAL AREA
There are many places to visit in the local area:
· the cities of Béziers & Montpellier
· the towns of Nîmes, Narbonne, Carcassonne
· St Guilhelm le Desert in the Hérault gorge
· La Couvertoirade in the Haut Languedoc
· the Templars' villages
· Cap d’Agde & other Mediterranean resorts
· the small ports on the Etang de Thau
· and local wine producers who often have free wine tastings!

Independent Comment
Just 10 minutes drive from Pézenas and well placed for excursions to the sights and the beaches, this classic village location surrounded by vineyards provides a very peaceful retreat. This is a traditional terraced village house on 4 levels including a useful extra shower-room on the ground floor, good sized open-plan living room with kitchen/dining area on the 1st floor and bedrooms/bathroom on the 2nd floor. The property has been tastefully refurbished, retaining the charm of its original features including beamed ceilings and winding staircase. It is comfortably furnished and well equipped, giving a very homely feel. Excellent good sized roof terrace on the 4th level, with lovely views across the vineyards, which also has a covered section with barbecue and small extra kitchen area.
