Les Rêves at Arques comprises a luxury large house and gite close to many outdoor activities set amongst the Cathar Castles in the foothills of the Pyrenees. Whether you want to just soak up the beautiful scenery, explore the Cathar Castles, walk in the mountains, sample the wine from the Corbieres vineyards, canoe down the Aude, go horse riding from the village itself, windsurf on the local lake, or discover the holy secrets of Rennes-le-Chateau, a holiday at Les Rêves at Arques has something for everyone.

Arques is situated about 35 minutes south of the medieval city of Carcassonne (and 10km east of Coiuza) in the foothills of the Pyrenees. It is a small and attractive village and has a few essential shops – like a boulangerie! The area is natural, peaceful and stunningly beautiful.

Carina

The main house is a large 5 bedroom stone dwelling that has been recently modernised throughout.

Downstairs there is:

·              Large lounge with wood burner and french doors leading to covered terrace (also integral bread oven!)

·              Dining room with wood panelling

·              Fully fitted kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, washing machine

·              One double bedroom with ensuite shower room

Auriga

Auriga is a newly converted dwelling that downstairs provides a large lounge/dining room (with exposed beams) and kitchen area (with dishwasher, microwave and washing machine). Upstairs there are 2 double bedrooms each with their own en-suite shower and toilet.

Le Domain

The house and gite are on a 2 acre plot of land on the edge of the village. The land slopes gently down to a river. There is a swimming pool, terrace and summer kitchen. There is also a table tennis table and boules area. There are bikes available to use to explore the local sights.

LOCAL ATTRACTIONS

At Arques:

Excellent all-weather tennis court, just 100 yards away, horse riding with the stables (2 minute walk) that taught Kevin Costner to ride in the film Robin Hood Prince of Thieves!, windsurfing and swimming on the beautiful lake just outside the village, Chateau d’Arques, boulangerie - 1 minute walk to get your fresh bread!, local café.

There is also plenty to explore in the area around including:

Canoeing and white water rafting, walking in the hills and mountains, Carcassonne, Canal du Midi, Cathar castles, Rennes-le-Chateau (Birthplace of 'The Da Vinci Code'?) and the Mediterranean beaches are just 1 hour and 10 minutes.
