THE LOCAL AREA
The villa’s location in St. Genis is ideal for self-catering. Shopping is convenient and easy, with 2 boulangeries and a range of other useful shops just a few minutes walk away, together with a twice-weekly market. When you prefer to relax, there are attractive restaurants/bars in St. Genis itself and a good choice of excellent value restaurants within easy reach by car. Indeed, one of the delights of the region is the diversity of cuisine and wines to savour during your stay.
The Roussillon coastline varies from the wide open spaces of St. Cyprien and Argeles, popular for swimming and sailing, to the picturesque Cote Vermeille, with the light and beauty of Collioure inspiring Matisse, Picasso, Dufy and other great artists. Inland the Alberes hills, Canigou and Catalan Pyrenees offer abundant variety and beauty for sightseeing, walking, cycling, golf and climbing.
The region offers a wealth of discovery for the visitor, embracing art, history, architecture, fetes and festivals; Perpignan’s cultural heritage, dance and music festivals, the Ceret museum of modern art, the fortress of Salses, Prades music festival.
